Krav Maga Creator Imi Lichtenfeld
What is Krav Maga
Krav Maga is an aggressive and realistic self defence system created by a Hungarian man named Imi Lichtenfeld. During the Nazi oppression in the 1940’s, he and other Jews used the system to defend themselves and other civilians. Eventually like a lot of other Jews at the time, Imi travelled by boat to what was then known as Palestine (Israel), to congregate and fight the Nazis on a bigger scale. Due to Imi’s success with the ‘Krav Maga’ self defence system and his impressive background in wrestling and other combat sports, the Israeli military asked him teach them to defend against the Nazis in hand to hand combat. Imi taught the IDF for the best part of 20 years evolving the way that they defended against everything from hand to hand through to weapon defence.
Krav Maga is a battle born, tried and tested self defence. It is a principle based system which means that essentially it is always evolving and has no limits. It works on simplicity and aggression to ensure that everyone can pick it up easy and effectively. It works with everyday situations from unarmed to somebody holding a pistol/knife to you. To this day special forces around the world use Krav Maga as their main hand to hand combat system and it’s popularity is ever growing.
If its not simple and aggressive…. Its not Krav Maga!!
